South Africa - Floods and Landslides

Main image
Deadly floods and landslides have devastated South Africa following three days of pounding rain in April 2022, prompting the country to declare a National State of Disaster. More than 100,000 people have been affected, thousands of homes have been destroyed and hundreds of people have tragically lost their lives. The worst affected areas are in KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape provinces. Through this emergency appeal, the IFRC is seeking a total of CHF 8M to support the South African Red Cross Society to provide relief activities to 30,000 of the most affected people to meet their immediate needs and help them recover.
